Choosing A Domain Name – Should It Be SEO Optimized?

Even though I have completed Modules 1 Day 1 thru 7 of the 30 Day Challenge, I am at a cross road, where I need to decide on the correct domain name for my business.  I never knew that choosing a domain name would be so difficult.

Choosing a domain name is not so difficult, it is only because I am having difficulty trying to choose the correct niche for me to promote.  Basically I have found three niches that meets the criteria for choosing a niche for the Challenge.  The Challenge criteria is to only choose a niche that has at least a Page to broad match (PBR) criteria of about 15 %, a SEOT competition value of at least 30,000 competing pages, and at least 80 visitors a day.  My three niches have passed this test, the only thing for me to do now is decide on which niche  to use for my domain name.  All these technical terms are explained at the Challenge.

I have learned that the fastest way to choose a niche is to choose something that you know about, or a topic (niche) that you would like to learn something about.  Even if you do not take this route, the 30 Day Challenge has a system in place where even if you do not know anything about a niche, you can quickly research and fuel up with enough information to at least write your first article for your blog.

When choosing a domain name we should always try to choose a domain name with our keyword included.  Studies have shown that a keyword rich domain name will give you the best chance on landing on the first page of Google. I always try to acquire a domain name with a dot com, dot net, or dot org, always.  When I can’t find a top level domain name with my keyword I will then try to find one with a phase match name.

The 30 Day Challenge really have helped me to simplify this process.  I will be back soon to write again on what I have learned in Module 2, in a few days.
